It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.

June is my birth month so it’s no surprise the month holds a special beauty for me. I got a fantastic birthday gift from Mother Nature when a Rufous hummingbird visited our yard. We’ve never had (or at least have never seen) one in our yard before. A huge treat for me!

Birthdays aside, this particular June was filled with accomplishments, mine and others. My daughter graduated from kindergarten and my amazing niece graduated from high school.

We made one big trip to east coast to visit family with an overnight in my beloved Ithaca, where I went to college at Cornell. Ithaca is one of the most spectacular places I’ve ever been and I was so fortunate to be able to live there for four years.

Back home I went to Tacoma for two photo sessions for friends who are due to give birth very soon and one birthday shoot for my daughter’s BFF, Pete. Each shoot was very different and I loved them all!

During June I also experimented with my Lensbaby and attended a Lensbaby photo walk held during Glazer’s annual Photofest.  Otherwise the month was filled with photos of all the usual suspects: my daughter, my cats and my garden. I never tire of photographing any of them!

      And with that, here’s June:
