November came and went in a flash. Actually all of 2017 somehow feels like it passed by in the blink of an eye…or the snap of a shutter. My 365 photography project for 2017 (two years in a row!) has one month remaining.

Between teacher-parent conferences, holidays, vacations, and a couple photo shoots for me, there was a lot going on this month. ‘Tis the beginning of the busy season!

We made one trip to Jenne Farm in Coupeville on Whidbey Island. Our happy place! I even got to spend the afternoon (in very cold, blustery weather) photographing island herons and other shore birds. On the way home we were treated to the sights and sounds of snow geese and trumpeter swans who pass through Skagit Valley on the migration south.

This month I also had the opportunity to do a couple family photoshoots. I’m hoping for more in the coming year! One of my personal goals for 2018 is to grow my family photography business.

I’ve also been trying to experiment with light and lenses, trying out a few fun specialty lenses like those in the Lensbaby line. This coming year I’m contemplating changing my special project from a 365 (one photo every day of the year) to a series of self-education projects. I have so much I’d like to learn!

      And with that, here’s November!
